Set up clients to pay for themselves

The following information is for Campaign Monitor resellers

If you use Campaign Monitor to offer a service to your clients, you can set them up to pay for themselves, meaning we'll invoice them through the account on your behalf. You can either charge our base rates, or mark up their prices to earn a profit.

If you set up a client to pay for their own account usage, they will be exposed to our Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), which references Campaign Monitor, when creating an account. Our AUP is also linked to from the billing section of your client's account.

Resell to clients

To set up a client's account so that we start invoicing them on your behalf:

  1. Click Clients in the top navigation, then select the relevant client.
  2. Open the Settings menu near the top right and click on Client details.
  3. Click Resell to [client name] or, if you're currently paying for the client, click Resell to client and set pricing.
  4. On the "Set pricing" page you can:
  5. When you're done, click Save prices.

When moving a client to pay for themselves you will no longer be able to assign them email credits, and any email credits that were previously assigned to the client will be returned to your main credit balance, to allow them to purchase their own.

For billing changes to take effect, the client must have account access, as explained below.

Client account access

To start reselling to a client you'll need to create a client user, giving them account access. You can add the client's credit card details for them but payments will only be charged to their card after their client user account has been activated. Until then, any account fees incurred will be charged to your credit card.

Client invoices

After your client has set up their own account login we'll start invoicing them directly. Invoices are emailed to the primary contact and they reference Createsend.com as well as our business address as the billing entity.

The "From" name and email address used when invoices are sent to clients is your name and your account email address. If you have multiple account administrators, the emails will be sent from whoever is the primary contact.

Client access to billing details

When you set up a client to pay, a billing section is added to their account. From there they can manage their payment details, find invoices and purchase email credits — if you've set them up to pay that way.

Your client can find instructions for all of these things in the "Help" section of their account. Or, you can share these articles to help them get started:

Your client will never see billing plans or pricing in their account, and they can't switch plans without your assistance.

Billing questions

When your client accesses the "Billing" section of their account, they will see a link to our Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) and this email address: billing@createsend.com

To comply with payment card industry standards, we're obligated to provide billing support and issue resolution. If your client contacts us at billing@createsend.com, we'll forward the email to you, so you can help them. If you have multiple account administrators, the email will be forwarded to whoever is the primary contact.

We will resolve any billing-related disputes if you're unable to do so directly with your client.
