Set up an Abandoned Cart journey

Permission required to use this feature: automation

To use this feature, an online store must be connected to your account. Contact your administrator to do this.

The abandoned cart automation feature allows you to automatically send emails to potential buyers who have left items in their online shopping carts without completing a purchase. This capability can be used to remind potential buyers of the items they left behind, and encourage them to return and complete their purchase. This feature can help increase sales and conversion rates for your store.

Set up the journey

  1. Create a new custom journey
  2. Name the journey
  3. For What will trigger this journey? choose An action in your online store.
  4. Select the list the journey will apply to.
  5. For What activity triggers the journey? choose Abandoned Cart.
  6. Click Build your journey in the top right corner to create your journey.
  7. Click Turn on journey when finished.

When a prospect abandons their cart, there is a 60 minute delay before the Abandoned Cart journey is triggered. If the prospect returns to your store and completes their purchase within this timeframe, the journey will not be triggered. Prospects who are already passing through an Abandoned Cart journey when they complete their purchase will be removed from the automation at that point.

The abandoned cart process ends when payment is captured, not authorized. If your store captures payment manually, or once an order is fulfilled, there may be a delay marking orders as paid, and prospects may continue to pass through an Abandoned Cart journey during this time. This can be avoided by capturing payment automatically at checkout instead.
